Geochemistry/Assay Overview
Analysis of geological media includes rocks, soils, organic matter, water and heavy minerals. Analyses can be a low cost, partial digestion (aqua regia), "near total" digestion (as total as acids can be), total digestion or very selective digestions (technologies used for discovering deeply buried, blind mineralization and includes SGH, Enzyme Leach, Bioleach and other selective extractions). The application of each will depend on 'fitness for purpose'. Actlabs is accredited to both ISO 17025 with CAN-P-1579 and NELAP for specific registered tests.
Two levels of analyses, GEOCHEMICAL OR ASSAYS , are available at most geological laboratories. Assays are used to accurately determine the level of metals to a high degree of accuracy. Geochemical analyses are used to obtain a low cost multielement scan which has a lower level of accuracy but delivers many more metal at low cost.
