Sample Packaging

For convenience and to improve turnaround time, please make sure all samples are clearly identified with sample numbers when sent. This can be accomplished with waterproof ink on sample bags, or by tags in sample bags. Efficient turnaround can be accomplished by packaging samples neatly and in order.

Sample Requirements

To obtain meaningful testing results, it is necessary sufficient amount of sample is submitted for analysis. Below are the guidelines:

Mechanical testing:

For tensile test samples eight inches long are usually required, undersize samples of three inches might be sufficient.

For bend test please submit samples of 10-12 inches.

For Charpy Impact test of welds submit samples 10 inches wide and 17 inches along the weld

Chemical analysis:

For metals please submit minimum of 5g of sample, 8-10 g preferred

Sample Shipping

Most frequently samples are shipped to us via courier, such as FedEx or Purolator. If this is the case, please provide detailed instructions with your samples, as well as any applicable quotation numbers. This will greatly aid in turnaround time. Alternatively, local customers may choose to bring the sample in themselves. MSDS sheets have to accompany any hazardous samples
